Spice Girl Mel B wants to end ugly legal battle with nanny and settle out of court
Spice girl Mel B no longer sees her legal fight with nanny Lorraine Gilles as a priority and wants to end the saga by settling out of court

MEL B has made a U-turn in her multi-million pound court battle with the ex-nanny who allegedly broke up her marriage and is prepared to do a deal.
The Spice Girl, 43, has urged her lawyers to settle with German au pair Lorraine Gilles in their expensive legal fight at Los Angeles Superior Court.
Sources say Mel is worried that should she lose the case, as much as 50 per cent of her new Spice Girls tour earnings this summer could go on legal costs totalling £6million.
In recent months, the crusading singer has also been focusing on helping the victims of domestic violence, including becoming a patron for Women’s Aid.
This week, she turned up at Downing Street to deliver a shocking report which revealed that two thirds of survivors were economically exploited and often left penniless by their abusers.
A source told The Sun On Sunday: “The court fight with Lorraine Gilles is just not a priority for Mel anymore, she has other – more important – things to focus on.
“Mel’s legal team are now keen to get to the table and work on an agreement and walk away.”
In her divorce declaration against Belafonte in 2017, Mel branded Gilles a “prostitute” and “homewrecker” and alleged that the blonde nanny fell pregnant with her ex’s baby.
The au pair denied the claims and sued Mel for libel.
Last year a star-studded court battle was greenlit by judges at the Los Angeles Supreme Court, who rejected Mel’s final appeal against the libel case moving forward.
If there was a trial, Lorraine’s lawyers may have the opportunity to probe superstar witnesses like Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and the other Spice Girls about Mel’s behaviour and conduct.
