The former Westlife singer looked shocked as his name was called third, leaving Saara and Melody to battle it out for the final place.

Saara had found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard after the five couples had skated, while Melody finished third with the judges.

But after receiving the lowest votes from the public, the women had to skate again with their partners, and the judges decided to send Melody home.

Jason Gardiner was the first to give his decision, saying: "I have adored watching both of you but based on the skate off I'm going to save Saara and Hamish."

Ashley Banjo branded it "the most difficult skate off by far" before adding: "Saara, I think lower scores don't mean bad scores, don't feel bad about that.

"Melody you are a powerhouse, you've both got room for improvement but the most rounded performance in the skate off came from Saara and Hamish."

Jayne Torvill agreed, sealing Melody's fate by saying: "The person that showed the best of their abilities was Saara and Hamish."

Earlier, Love Island hunk Wes had received the first 10s of the series for his routine to Bruno Mars track, Treasure while dressed as a pirate.

Host Holly Willoughby said to him: "You wanted that 10 so badly didn't you?"

Wes replied: "Yeah I've worked so hard this week, my legs are literally in bits.

"I can't even talk, we've put all the work in this week and it's paid off."
