WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...
The City and The City, 9pm, BBC Two
Yet another TV drama kicks off with the body of a murdered woman.
David Morrissey (right) is careworn cop Inspector Tyador Borlu in this adaptation of writer China Mieville’s futuristic police procedural, and Morrissey, delivering a film noir voiceover, is in familiar territory.
On the evidence of this first episode of four, Sherlock’s Lara Pulver is under-used as his love interest, but Mandeep Dhillon (24: Live Another Day) attacks the role of sweary sidekick Constable Corwi with relish.
It’s well done, but, like Hard Sun, may struggle to find a large audience.
The Graham Norton Show, 10.35pm, BBC One
Her current album Golden is going great guns – partly due to the fact she released a limited-edition sparkly cassette version of it – and tonight pop princess Kylie Minogue (left) will perform Stop Me From Falling from it.
A sentiment those audience members who make it into the red chair might appreciate…
Sound Like Friday Night, 7.30pm, BBC One
The jam-packed music show hosted by DJ Greg James (right) makes a welcome return and it’s a corker. Meghan Trainor gives a special performance while Snow Patrol and Years and Years debut new songs.
Meanwhile, Dotty’s (left) hanging out with Little Mix in Tokyo. You’ve got to hand it to the Beeb, they know how to do music shows…
Episodes, 10pm, BBC Two
Unlike 15 million viewers, Matt (Matt LeBlanc, right) is not overly concerned about his sex-tape going viral. That is, until he discovers he can be fired by the network without a pay-off due to a ‘morals clause’.
However, in light of the ‘incident’, the viewing figures go through the roof.
Another amusing episode, but it feels like Beverly (Tamsin Greig, left) and Sean (Stephen Mangan, centre) have been sidelined.
I Don’t Like Mondays, 8pm, Channel 4
“There’s no other prize like it, a year off and C4 paying your wages,” Alan Carr (above) tells TV Mag. This hilarious game show is packed with challenges, but which audience member will win a year’s salary?
Whoever it is will hand their resignation letter in at the studio. Madcap fun.
