Techno’s rising star AKKI reveals top music picks ahead of his debut release

Portrait of AKKI, a rising techno star.

ONE of techno’s fastest-rising stars, AKKI has been tearing up global dance floors with his blend of raw, emotive melodies and thunderous basslines.

Hailing from Munich, he’s already clocked millions of streams, dropping tracks on leading labels such as Terminal M, 1605, Filth On Acid and Alaula and he’s earned heavyweight support from techno queens. Charlotte de Witte and Amelie Lens.

AKKI – Lost In Time

Now, he’s taking things to the next level with his debut release on Amelie Lens’ EXHALE imprint. The single, Lost In Time is a peak-time weapon that’s already caused serious damage at Lens and de Witte’s huge B2B at Flanders Expo in Belgium in February and it's out now.

To mark the occasion, AKKI has curated a killer playlist packed with the tracks that inspire his sound and light up his DJ sets. Strap in for a journey across the cutting edge of techno and beyond.

Alignment - Let The Music Leave Your Soul

This track is a real journey! It's the perfect combination of trance and hard techno. Alignment is by far my favorite producer at the moment and I love his balance between emotions and hard drops.

DJ Isaac - I Want You

This track is more of a hardstyle track, but I think it also fits perfectly in a harder techno set nowadays and I always love playing it and seeing the reactions to it.

Joey Risdon - Acid Kicks In

This track is rather minimalistic, but it's always a highlight in my sets because of its insane groove and tension building build-up. Joey is a great producer who knows how to keep the listener engaged even though he doesn't use that many elements - this is very impressive.

Luciid - Era of Us

Luciid has created a unique melody on this track and combined with the warm and driving bassline, it's a track that gives you a happy feeling but also a lot of energy that makes you want to dance.

Alignment - When The Bass Is Too Loud

Again we have Alignment and although the track isn't that old yet, I think it's already a cult track. With the crazy melodies and storytelling, it's like watching a movie that takes you on a journey.

Sailo – Nobody

This track is more of a bouncy track and the simple melody gets stuck in your head. Even when you hear it for the first time, you feel like you've known the track for a long time. It's great to be on the same EXHALE VA with artists like this.

Alex Farrell - Move Your Body

Alex is also one of my favorite producers at the moment. I love his style and production skills and he knows exactly how to build tension in his tracks that leads to massive drops. Although he's a very young producer, he's already shown the world his skills and I think he's going to become one of the big names in the scene.

Junkie Kid - Outside Remix

This track is very special because it's not your typical techno track. It's a combination of a radio song with hard techno and a heartwarming melody in the main break that leads to a huge drop. Always nice to play this song!

Maddix - Open Sesame

I've been playing this track for a long time and it's always great to see how people react to it. I play it in all my sets and I'm a big fan of Maddix and the big hit he had with this track.

Onlynumbers - Euphoric Night

This is usually my closing track because it gives you so much energy and pushes you even more at the end. But it also has that iconic melody and the beautiful piano part at the end. In my opinion, it's the perfect track to end your set.
