BRITISH pop star Ella Henderson rose to fame after competing on the popular television series The X Factor.

In December 2024, Ella performed at Capital's annual Jingle Bell Ball and luckily for those who missed the popular event, her performance will be aired on television this weekend.

A talent for music

Ella Henderson was born in Tetney, Lincolnshire, on January 12, 1996.

She is the daughter of Michelle and Sean Henderson and has two brothers and a sister.

Ella showed a talent for music at a young age and taught herself to play the piano.

The future star then went on to earn herself a scholarship place at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, where she met Dan Ferrari-Lane.

Dan was a member of the boyband District3.

A shock on The X Factor

Ella appeared on the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012, where she sang an original song named Missed.

Dan also appeared on the same series of The X Factor.

Ella was mentored by Tulisa but, sadly, she became the eighth contestant to be eliminated from the show.

Presenter Dermot O'Leary described her exit as "one of the biggest shocks we've ever had on the results show".

Celebrities including AdeleLily AllenSimon CowellCher, and Chloë Grace Moretz all voiced their support for the young singer.

Since appearing on the show, Ella has remained close friends with fellow X Factor star Rylan Clark.

Ella's next chapter

Ella's career was far from over though.

She went on to top the charts with her 2014 single Ghost, which remained in the top five for eight weeks.

The song was certified platinum in AustraliaNew Zealand, the UK, and the US.

Her debut album Chapter One also reached the number one spot on the UK charts.

Ella was one of several X Factor artists to cover Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water to raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

She was joined by Leona LewisLouis TomlinsonLiam PayneJames ArthurLouisa Johnson, and Matt Terry.

Ella's love life

Ella has been in a relationship with Jack Burnell since 2020.

Jack is a retired professional swimmer who won a silver medal in the 10km at the European Open Water Swimming Championships in 2016.

The couple announced their engagement in January 2023.

Jingle Bell Ball

In December 2024, Capital's biggest Christmas party returned, with fans enjoying performances from a wide selection of stars, including Ella Henderson.

Ella performed hit songs such as Ghost and Crazy What Love Can Do.

For those who couldn't attend the live event at The O2, you can catch Capital's Jingle Bell Ball's best bits on Sunday, December 15 at 5.35 pm.

The show will air on ITV, ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
