Fans are convinced Kris Marshall is the next Doctor Who as he steps down from Death in Paradise just in time to take over from Peter Capaldi

DOCTOR Who fans are convinced they know who the next Time Lord will be - after Kris Marshall quit Death in Paradise this week.
The actor's decision to leave the popular BBC detective show came just two days after current Doctor Who Peter Capaldi announced he had quit after three years in the role.
And fans were quick to link the two departures and conclude that Kris, 43, would become the 13th doctor.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Kris Marshall is definitely gonna be the next doctor who", while another added: "Anyone else think that Kris Marshall would be pretty good as the next Doctor?".
A third agreed, writing: "Kris Marshall is leaving death in paradise - he MUST be the next doctor who".
Others also noticed the coincidence, writing: "So farewell then Kris Marshall in Death in Paradise "I quit" yes that is your catchphrase. Just in time for the casting of #DoctorWho Kris?"
Speaking of his decision to quit Death in Paradise while on Good Morning Britain, Chris confirmed The Sun's story and said he had to quit because he felt “bereft” when he wasn’t with his family.

Chris explained: “This last series I did do on my own, which was quite tough.
“Skyping just leaves me bereft and then I have to go and drown my sorrows in the bar.”
“In previous years I’ve been able to take my family with me but we had a daughter this time last year and so bringing her and my son, he’s about to start school and it all became a bit of a juggling mission.
“So that was really the reason behind it.”
Meanwhile other names linked to the new Doctor Who include Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden, Olivia Colman and even Kelly Brook, who admitted on Friday's Lorraine she would be open to auditioning to become the first female Doctor.
