According to the Daily Star, Danielle does want to return but needs to get her head straight.

A source said: “Dani loves TOWIE and the last thing she wants to do is leave the show.

“But she is still struggling to get over James and doesn’t think she’ll be able to do that while they are constantly filming scenes together.

“Dani knows that in order to move on and be happy she needs a proper break from James and unfortunately that means leaving the show too.”

Danielle has been spotted filming scenes for the Towie Christmas special in Liverpool but its claimed these will be her last scenes.

Although Danielle and James tried to be friends after their split, it’s claimed she’s struggling with the fact she hasn’t been able to have a clean break from him.

The source added: “Dani and James’ on-off romance has been one of the longest running storylines in the history of TOWIE.

“But at the end of the day it’s also Dani’s real life.

“She wants to find the one, marry, settle down and have children and she knows there is no chance of that happening if she hasn’t moved on from James first.”

James recently told The Sun Online he'd love for the couple to be together but admitted it was impossible.

He said: “As much as I’d love to be with Danielle in an ideal world, I can’t be with her.

“I’d never say never but at the minute it’s not happening.”

The Sun Online has contacted Danielle's representative.
