Zara Holland LEAVES Love Island just days after being stripped of Miss Great Britain title
The 20-year-old is on her way back to the UK to be with her sick mum
ZARA Holland has quit Love Island following an illness in the family.
The 20-year-old, who discovered she had lost her Miss GB crown just days ago, admitted she was 'sad' to go but wanted to be with her mum.
In a statement this morning, an ITV rep said: "Owing to an illness in the family, Zara Holland has left the Love Island villa to return to the UK. Our thoughts are with her and her family and we send all of our best wishes.”
Zara said: “I'm so sad to leave the villa but it's important for me to get home and spend time with my mum while she gets better.
“I've had the time of my life on Love Island and would like to thank all of my fellow Islanders and the production team for all their support.”
ITV bosses will be leaving the door open for her to return – depending on the circumstances in the villa.
The news comes just days after the beauty queen was left heartbroken when she discovered her Miss Great Britain title had been taken away from her.
Zara was stripped of her Miss GB title after furious pageant bosses watched as she romped on the show with Vicky Pattison’s ex, Alex Bowen.

Zara regretted her actions, confessing: “You know when you’re in the moment and it just happens. That’s really not like me at all. Why couldn’t we have just gone to sleep?”
However the damage was done and just days later she lost her coveted crown.
An official statement from the pageant organisers read: “The feedback we have received from pageant insiders and members of the general public is such that we cannot promote Zara as a positive role model moving forward.
A show insider told The Sun Online that the blonde beauty reacted well to the shock, revealing: “Zara took the news fairly well, viewers will be able to see her reaction and her telling the rest of the Islanders on Sunday.”
This evening viewers will watch as Zara, who was told the news off camera, gathers her co-stars together to break the news to them.
In a sneak peek from the episode Zara is seen gathering the Islanders around the pool, telling them: “I need to speak to everyone,”
She then announces her news to the group before breaking down in tears.
