GAME of Thrones fans are breathing a sigh of relief as new pictures show Kit Harington is growing back his trademark beard.
The show's loyal followers were sent into a frenzy last week when snaps of the actor sporting a shocking new clean-shaven look emerged online.
It appeared Kit had ditched Jon Snow's famous facial fuzz, but we can now reveal the beard is back.
Kit, 29, who is best known for playing the brooding member of of the Night's Watch, has been pictured looking more like his usual hunky self.
He was sporting sexy stubble while out and about in London today, seemingly suggesting the beard is making a big comeback.
As he arrived at the Duke of York Theatre, Kit hid his face behind dark sunglasses, but all eyes were on his facial fuzz.
The news will come as a relief to fans, who were sent into a frenzy by pictures of the actor's beardless look.
The images emerged online as devotees snapped selfies with the actor outside the West End theatre, where he has been performing in a production of Doctor Faustus.
Twitter was flooded with pictures of Kit's new look - and many Jon Snow fans were not happy.
He looked a world away from his hunky Game of Thrones character, and heartbroken devotees mourned the loss of the beard on social media.
One wrote: "Jon Snow without his beard is like seeing dogs driving cars. I need time to process this!" and another added: "
One tweeted: "Kit Harington without a beard looks like pizza without cheese."
Kit has since addressed the furore over 'beard-gate' and insisted he was baffled by fans' reaction.
He also revealed he shaved off his facial hair as a "test" for a new role, and to find out just how quickly he can grow the famous beard back.
Kit told : "I'm amazed that it makes [news]... My publicist sent me some press, and it was in the Independent and the Telegraph!
"These are mainstream publications writing about someone's beard being shaved! Hair grows back and actors have to change their look all the time. I find it consistently entertaining...
"I'm doing what's called a shave test or something. For my next job I have to work out how quickly I can grow a beard.
"To do that, I have to shave."
Kit also explained that many fans failed to recognise him while he was clean-shaven.
He added: "I'm not having to take selfies everyday...
"It was quite nice. I guess I'm associated with a look, so having shaved there was less being noticed, so that was quite fun."
