IF you have never been able to get one of those coveted tickets to see theatre show Hamilton, well Disney+ has a treat for you.

In February 2020, Disney announced it had purchased a recording of the original Broadway cast for approximately £60m - which is reportedly the highest film acquisition cost ever.

What time is Hamilton released on Disney+?

Hamilton the movie will be released on Disney+ TODAY (July 3, 2020) from 8am.

You can watch it by signing up to Disney+ for £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year.

The Pulitzer-Prize winning musical's cinematic release was originally scheduled for October 2021, but has been brought forward 15 months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The move also follows a rising trend in theatre fans streaming their favourite past productions, including the National Theatre on YouTube.

Who is in the cast of Hamilton the movie?

Hamilton's cinematic version features the original cast of the show, which first debuted off-Broadway in 2015, before being moved to the Richard Rodgers theatre.

The casting of the play features young black, Asian, Latino and mixed-race actors who portray the old white founding fathers.

It is currently being praised as revolutionary as it coincides with Black Lives Matter protests across the globe.

The cast includes:

  • Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr
  • Christopher Jackson as George Washington
  • Jonathan Groff as King George
  • Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler
  • Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton

Directed by Tommy Kail, it was filmed over several days in the week before the principles started to leave the production back in 2016, reports the .

Speaking about the concept on Good Morning America, Manuel said: "[Kail has] basically given everyone at home the best seat in the house and it’s a thrilling experience.

“He really threads the needle between these cinematic close-ups and widening out and seeing the show from the centre aisle of the Richard Rodgers Theatre.”
