Jack Tweed says his family saved him as he prepares to mark 11th anniversary of wife Jade Goody’s death

JACK Tweed has said he would be dead if it wasn’t for his family, ahead of the 11th anniversary of his wife Jade Goody’s death this Sunday.

Her husband admitted his brother found him “sitting with bottles of tablets” in front of him.

Jack, 32, said: “I did have suicidal thoughts for a while, just thought what’s the point in all this?

“I’ve lost everything and never felt so low in my life, my brother came round one day and found me sitting with bottles of tablets in front of me.”

Jack married Jade a month before her death on Mother’s Day in 2009.

She lost her battle with cervical cancer aged just 27.

Jade was given the diagnosis whilst in India’s version of Big Brother in August 2008.

Jack said: “My mental health has suffered a lot since Jade died.

“I’ve got acute anxiety which is very hard to deal with. I went on medication for a while, but I didn’t really like it. To be honest, I probably didn’t give it a chance. I’m not one for taking tablets.

“The anxiety is awful. It makes you feel like you can’t cope with simple things everything feels like a big deal, when you wake up and have this constant sick feeling every day.

“For a while I used to drink to get rid of that feeling, but the next day you feel even worse so I decided to cut down which I have now to once a week and sometimes once a fortnight.”

This Sunday will be the 11th anniversary of Jade’s death. She left two children - Bobby and Freddie - who she had with Jeff Brazier.

Jack said: "Sunday will be hard for me but when I think of Jade and the times we spent together it’s lovely she told me once until she met me no one had done anything romantic for her so I tried to do that as much as I could.

“Mother’s Day will be extra hard this year as it’s also the anniversary of Jade’s death.

"We would always do as much as we could with Bobby and Freddy nothing was more important to Jade then her kids. Like most mums she would have done anything for them and she truly did.”

YOU'RE NOT ALONE

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.

It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society - from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others... You're Not Alone.

If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:
