Golden Globes: Sucession’s Brian Cox kisses Kieran Culkin on the lips as show wins Best Drama and Best Actor gong

SUCCESSION'S Brian Cox kissed his on-screen son Kieran Culkin on the lips as the show wins Best Drama and Best Actor gong at the Golden Globes.
The veteran actor took home the Best performance By An Actor In A Television Series - Drama at the 77th annual ceremony held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
While fans of the show wouldn't be surprised by the win, they may have been shocked by Brian planting a big kiss on the lips of Kieran Culkin.
Cox and Culkin play father and son on screen, as Logan Roy and Roman Roy respectively.
After his name was read out, Cox celebrated at his table, before making his way to the stage.
As Kieran held out his hand for a shake, the 73-year-old actor put both hands on his head and went in for the smooch instead.
Cox dedicated his win to showrunner Jesse Armstrong before apologising to the other nominees: "First of all, I want to apologise to my fellow nominees for winning this.
"I mean, I'm sorry. And that's all I can say: I'm sorry.
"But I never expected this. And I've been in this business, well, next year I would have been in this business 60 years.
"I mean, I started when I was two, and I just never thought this would happen to me, so I'm a wee bit shocked."
He also thanked the cast and crew, adding that it wouldn't have happened if he "hadn't worked with the most extraordinary bunch of people ever".
Succession follows a powerful media family as each struggles with their lives and power.
It also won the gong for Best Television Series - Drama.
Creator and executive producer Jesse Armstrong got on stage alongside actors Cox, Culkin, Nicholas Braun (Greg Hirsch) and Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy).
Armstrong said: "Thank you very much, to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, to HBO for their tremendous support.
"For everyone else working on the show, it's a TV show and I'm here as a representative to represent all of us, so if you've ever appeared on the call sheet or titles of Succession, congratulations, we've won a Golden Globe."
Sky received five Golden Globe Awards for its original and acquired content at last night’s ceremony.
Leading the charge was Chernobyl, the Sky original drama, co-produced with HBO, which received two wins.
Zai Bennett, Managing Director of Content, Sky said “We’re delighted that Chernobyl has won two Golden Globes, alongside deserved wins for Succession and The Loudest Voice.
"These awards highlight Sky’s reputation as the place where you can find the best homegrown and international TV all in one place.”
