Who is Alex Schauman? Dancing on Ice professional

WHEN it comes to figure skating, Alex Schauman has always been at the top of game.
Known for Dancing On Ice, she is also married to a fellow ice skater.
Who is Alex Schauman?
Born Alexandra Schauman on June 17, 1980, Alex is a professional skater who hails from Porvoo, Finland.
She started skating at a young age, and her first big success was when she competed in the junior ladies' singles event at the 1996 Finnish Championships.
In 2008, Alex got her first TV break when she landed a job on the version of Dancing on Ice and was named runner-up with her football partner Jesper Blomqvist.
Following her success on the Scandinavian equivalent of the show, the Finnish star joined the UK series.
Is Alex Schauman married?
Alex is married to fellow Dancing On Ice pro Lukasz Royzcki.
The couple met in the early noughties, and went onto wed on July 26, 2008.
On their 15th wedding anniversary in 2023, loved-up Alex posted a sweet snap with her husband, and wrote next to it: "Happy Chrystal Wedding @icelukasz 15 years married today-what a milestone and wouldn’t want to celebrate my anniversary with anyone else.
"Over the past 22 years, we’ve grown together and shared the beauty of this life. None of it would be possible without you by my side.
"Every story of love is incredible, different, and lovely—but I’m the luckiest to have you in my life.
"Happy anniversary, Kochanie!!!"
When did she join Dancing on Ice?
Alex shot to UK fame when she joined Dancing on Ice in 2010 as one of their professional skaters.
Her first pairing was with Good Morning Britain's resident doctor, Dr Hilary Jones.
Other celebrities she's skated with are Joe Swash, Jason Donovan, Dominic Cork, Sam Nixon.
Alex also performed with Todd Carty in the All Stars series in 2014.
Has Alex Shauman quit Dancing On Ice?
In October 2023, both Alex and her husband Lukasz quit Dancing On Ice after 13 years.
The married couple, who joined the ITV skating competition together, said they were "struggling to agree with changes to the show" and had ultimately decided to withdraw from the upcoming series (2024 season).
The pair also took a swipe at show bosses, saying they aren't interested in "increasingly contrived romantic narratives" and felt like they had no area for growth on the show.
Professional skater Alex said: "Lukasz and I are not returning for the upcoming season of Dancing On Ice, and wanted to say a few words about that before it is publicly announced.
"We have absolutely loved being part of the show for so long, but it has taken a very different angle and we struggle to agree with a lot of it."
They told the : "Mostly we’ve realised there is no opportunity to 'grow' on the show or take on different roles.
"And maybe it’s not so attractive for the show that we aren’t dramatic, we treat people with respect, and we aren’t interested in the increasingly contrived romantic narratives."
Lukasz added: "But we have a very good relationship with the execs who have been very supportive, and we’ve definitely left the door open for discussions about returning in the future."
