A BBC Breakfast host went solo as the show underwent a huge shake-up this weekend.

The programme was fronted solely by Nina Warhurst, 43, as it channel-hopped on Sunday, to accommodate for coverage of the final day at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Nina - a favourite among BBC Breakfast viewers - donned a stylish leopard-print blouse and leather trousers during the hugely slimmed-down episode.

It has also switched from its BBC One slot over to BBC Two as the former showcased the sporting action from the French capital.

Additionally, it spanned just one hour and 15 minutes on Sunday, before a repeat of Countryfile played out on the channel.

Yet Nina managed to pack a lot into the shorter space of time, chatting to Labour MP and Secretary of State for Business and Trade Jonathan Reynolds.

She also nattered to Team GB's artistic swimmers Kate Shortman and Izzy Thorpe who scooped silver on Saturday.

Yet as the episode closed prematurely on Sunday, Nina bid farewell to viewers.

She said: "That's it for today.

"Breakfast is of course back tomorrow from 6am.

"Do enjoy the rest of your Sunday, bye bye."

The show was also cut short on Saturday, when Naga Munchetty, 49, and Charlie Stayt, 62, were hosting from the iconic red sofa.

BBC Breakfast's Nina Warhurst enjoys a family camping holiday

Yet the shake-ups may soon subside, with the final day of the Olympics and Closing Ceremony taking place today.

Off screen, fans recently suggested Nina had "broken the law" as she enjoyed a family holiday with her husband and three kids.

Meanwhile, on her return to the Salford studio, Nina was quick to call out a BBC Breakfast colleague.

The brunette presenter had been introducing a segment on the Buy Now, Pay Later scheme.

Once the segment was finished, show anchor Ben Thompson remarked: "It's really important and dare I say it, people will be thinking about Christmas presents and things like that won't they?

Amused, Nina responded: "I can't believe you've mentioned the c-word. It's August."

As Ben commented: "It's not that long", Nina added:  "Someone is more organised than I am."
