Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher looks completely different to Dr Karl Kennedy on This Morning after show axe

NEIGHBOURS legend Alan Fletcher looked completely different to Dr Karl Kennedy today as he spoke about the Channel 5 soap being axed.

Alan is a fan favourite on the hit soap as Dr Karl, alongside Jackie Woodburne as wife Susan Kennedy, and he looked downcast as he discussed filming their final episodes together after 27 years on screen.

He told This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield earlier: "Jackie and I have been dear dear friends for 40 years and we will miss being on set, that will be a great loss to be frank.

"It will leave a big hole. But she's just down the street, we won't be strangers. And we've got a lot to talk about.

"We'll still be interacting with the fans. I believe Neighbours will have a life after the show is gone."

This Morning viewers fondly remembered growing up with Dr Karl on screen and took to Twitter in their droves.

One said: "Did anyone else used to blag the day off school to watch #Neighbours back in the day?"

Another said: "My mum sadly passed away in October last year, #Neighbours was her favourite show, she watched every one since it began. Seems bittersweet"

A third wrote: "Watched every episode since the day it was on tv from day 1 @NeighboursTV it will not be the same without neighbours on we all need good neighbours because we love you all."

Alan teased that bosses are pulling out all the stops to get former Neighbours stars back for the soap’s farewell.

Among the big names are to hopefully reunite are superstars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

Jason, 53, who played Scott Robinson, told show execs that he is flying to Melbourne in April and could potentially film a dramatic comeback.

And The Sun on Sunday revealed Ian Smith, 83, has agreed to return as Harold Bishop and will start filming next month.
