TIGER WOODS, Rory McIlroy and all the rest of the game's top golfers are in Royal Portrush for The Open.

Golf's oldest championship begins on Thursday, with home favourite McIlroy looking to complete a fairytale win on the course he went round in 61 as a 16-year-old prodigy.

But a host of talent stands in his way, not least the hotly tipped Jon Rahm and world No 1 Brooks Koepka, who is now so big time he's even snubbing Woods' plea for a practice round together.

From TV times to top bets, read on below to find out everything you need to know about the race for the Claret Jug.

The Open 2019 start time

Darren Clarke will hit the opening tee shot at 6.35am on Thursday morning.

The 2011 Open champion has been given the prestigious honour of smashing the first drive to mark the return of The Open to his home club after almost 70 years.

The tournament starts on Thursday with all players doing battle over the first two rounds before a cut to the top 70.

Remaining players will challenge for the Claret Jug over the weekend before play concludes on Sunday evening.
