NICKLAS BENDTNER has made headlines around the world for numerous reasons in his career.

But the latest will be the most unwanted, after he was arrested in his home country of Denmark.

Why has Nicklas Bendtner been arrested?

The former Arsenal striker was arrested by police in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.

He is alleged to have assaulted a taxi driver in the city, leaving them with a broken jaw.

The driver's employers, Dantaxi, released a statement, saying: "The assault has been reported to the police and we can confirm the assailant is Nicklas Bendtner.

"The driver is currently on the operating table."

How old is Nicklas Bendtner?

Bendtner was born on January 16, 1988 in Copenhagen.

It makes the Danish international 30-years-old.

He has one son with Caroline Iuel-Brockdorff, a former Baroness and friend of Royal Family in Denmark.

Who has Nicklas Bendtner played for?

Bendtner joined Arsenal's academy as a 17-year-old in 2004.

He made his debut for the club a year later, spending nine years on the Gunners' books.

But, the Denmark international failed to hold down a regular starting place, spending time on loan at Birmingham City, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest.

After leaving Arsenal in 2014, he joined Wolfsburg for two years, before returning to England with Nottingham Forest.

Bendtner now plays for Norwegian outfit Rosenborg, helping them to the Eliteserien league title in his first season.
