Bayern Munich nearing Sandro Wagner deal as Hoffenheim confirm Germany striker wants to rejoin Bundesliga champions

GERMANY international Sandro Wagner is close to rejoining old side Bayern Munich.
Hoffenheim have confirmed their star striker is keen on a return to his former stomping ground following an approach from the Bundesliga champions.
But boss Julian Nagelsmann insists the club will make no further announcements until a deal is over the line.
A move to Bayern would be the perfect reward for 29-year-old Wagner, who started his senior career at the club.
It’s taken Wagner a long time to get himself noticed in German football, but the forward is now a key part of Joachim Low’s international squad.
Bayern were in the market for a new attacker following Robert Lewandowski’s recent outburst criticising the lack of options in the final third.
The Pole is also attracting interest from a number of top teams including Manchester City, and Bayern seen keen to ensure they land an out-and-out striker this winter.
However, the Bavarians will have to pay at least £9million for Wagner, who is contracted to Hoffenheim until 2020.

Nagelsmann said: “It’s right [about Wagner to Bayern rumours], and we’ve known for longer than yesterday.
“We are aware of his interest [in a move]. We will make an announcement if there’s something to announce. There are no grudges that he’s interest, but there is sympathy.
“It’s not my player, he belongs to the club. If the clubs reach an agreement, you try to compensate for things as a coach.”
