Liverpool boost as Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman will miss second leg after injury

The Frenchman's career has been plagued with injuries as he has even considered hanging up his boots due to ongoing fitness problems

BAYERN MUNICH ace Kingsley Coman will miss the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie with Liverpool.

The Frenchman picked up a muscular injury in the German giants' victory over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Liverpool travel to Munich next month after the first leg at Anfield ended in a goalless draw.

The Reds managed to keep a clean sheet despite defensive linchpin Virgil Van Dijk's absence due to suspension.

And in a further boost to Jurgen Klopp's hopes, Coman will miss the decisive clash as his injury woes continue.

The 22-year-old winger's appearance at Anfield was already doubtful because of an ankle injury.

But he won the race against time and caused Liverpool many troubles with his tireless runs down the left flank.

Coman is yet to undergo final tests revealing the extent of the injury, but Bayern have hinted on social media that the winger is facing a longer break from football.

The Frenchman had just returned to action in December after spending eight months on the sidelines with a ligament tear.

Coman has even revealed he considered ending his career prematurely because of his ongoing fitness problems - as he also suffered a torn knee ligament the season before.

The Frenchman has scored five goals for Bayern this season, and assisted in another two.

Veteran Arjen Robben's feature at Allianz Arena is also unlikely because of his ongoing thigh problems.

Meanwhile, hitman Thomas Muller will miss the clash after receiving a red card in the group stages for a high boot into the head of Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico.
