National boss Wayne Bennett is set to include both for the June 23 Test against New Zealand in Denver, which is unveiled tomorrow.

SunSport understands St Helens ace Makinson, 26, has catapulted himself in after a string of fine performances for the Super League leaders.

Burgess, who missed last year's World Cup, is also thought to be in after a series of dominant displays for NRL side South Sydney.

The 26-year-old, who is likely to replace injured Warrington man Ben Currie, will line up alongside brothers Sam and Thomas in Colorado.

Six Australia-based stars are believed to be in Bennett's 19-man party, even though NRL clubs have kicked up a fuss over the American game.

Three new faces are also expected to make the journey.

However, Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary is thought to have made the squad, despite not reaching the heights of the World Cup in Super League this year.
