ASEAN All-Stars vs Man Utd LIVE RESULT: United’s post-season tour off to worst possible start after suffering shock loss

MANCHESTER UNITED'S post-season tour has got off to the worst possible start after losing to Asian minnows ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.

Red Devils supporters thought they were in for an easy ride with their club facing a team without any notable stars.

However, Myanmar forward Lwin's second-half strike was enough to see ASEAN ALL-stars pull off a huge upset following United's woeful 2024/25 campaign.

  • Amorim: 'We are a team of chokers'

Ruben Amorim gave a scathing review to MUTV following the 1-0 defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars.

The Man United boss has claimed his side "choked" in the post-season friendly.

"Yes, a disappointing result, but no injuries and a tough pitch," Amorim said.

"We don’t have in us not to choke in every exercise, in every game, that is what happened.

"We should win these kind of games, no matter what. We need to bring that inside of us in every game.

"The important thing is no injuries with this weather and to arrive here in this day. It is not an excuse, we should perform better.

"I liked the young kids, they try. That’s enough for me in the moment.

"They want to play more but we have to rotate everybody to play. They did well.

  • Missing devils

Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui and Leny Yoro miss out on the tour due to injury.

Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof haven't been forced to come along with their contracts expiring in the summer.

But Jonny Evans went along to his last postseason tour, with his final game likely to come in Hong Kong on Friday.

  • United's wait for successive wins goes on

Manchester United's wait for successive victories goes on.

The last time they won back-to-back games was March.

Maung Maung Lwin's second-half strike guides the ASEAN All-Stars to victory.

  • Aguerooooo

United fans were confused by a name on the team-sheet before kick-off.

Here is a name that will bring back bad memories for Man United supporters.

Sergio Aguero proved a thorn in the Red Devils' side during his decade at rivals Man City, most famously scoring the stoppage time winner to clinch the title in the 2011-12 season.

Man United came face to face with Sergio Aguero today... but not that one.

Remarkably, the ASEAN All-Stars are captained by Aguero.

This version was also born in Argentina but has since become an Malaysian internaitonal and has earned 17 caps.

  • Will today put new signings off?

United are on the cusp of completing their 62.5million move for Wolves striker Matheus Cunha.

SunSport also reported that Liam Delap is close to joining Old Trafford.

But will these breakthrough stars, especially Delap, risk their formative years with this dreadful side?

  • Man Utd vs ASEAN All-Star report

Red Devils suffer latest embarrassing defeat to an Asian side cobbled together at the minute.

Their opponents were a team made up of players from several Southeast Asian countries.

Maung Maung Lwin netted a 71st-minute winner for the South-East Asia XI to inflict more misery on Ruben Amorim's struggling side.

  • Garnacho's farewell tour?

Ruben Amorim's blunt message to Alejandro Garnacho seems to have underlined that the Argentine's Man United career is coming to a close.

Garnacho was one of Man United's brighter players today in Malaysia, but that looks unlikely to mean anything.

Will this be one of the final images of Garnacho wearing a Man United shirt?

Could Friday's match against the Hong Kong national team represent his final appearance for the club?

  • Man Utd ratings

UNITED'S stars thought their embarrassing season was over, but the ASEAN All Stars left them even more red-faced than Tottenham.

Amorim won't be too upset at defeat in what is ultimately a glorified way of adding some pennies to his transfer kitty and getting a look at some youngsters on the books.

Here's how SunSport's Joshua Hall rated the Man Utd performances...

  • Amorim shocked

  • Next up for United

The Red Devils face Hong Kong looking to “bounce back” on Friday as their tour of the Asia-Pacific rolls on.

The transfer window opens on June 1.

  • Fans fear two stars will leave after latest defeat

Man Utd supporters are worried that Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo will decide that enough is enough.

After defeat to Asian minnows, one fan wrote: "Just look at Garnacho. He is done with us."

A second said: "Can see Mainoo leaving. Who would want to be a part of this?"

A third added: "We're about to lose our best players 😫😫😫."
