CHELSEA have released forgotten star Malang Sarr, according to reports.

The defender made just eight Premier League appearances for the club in four years.

Sarr, 25, is now expected to sign a deal with Ligue 1 side Lens, according to .

The Frenchman joined Chelsea from Porto on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.

He put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth £100,000 a week.

That means Chelsea have cancelled his contract early, with Sarr picking up £20.8million from his spell at Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back made 21 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, two of which came as a substitute as he helped the Blues win the Club World Cup.

But he played in just eight league games and spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Monaco.

That deal included an option to buy which Monaco decided not to take up, though Sarr is now expected to make a move to Ligue Un with Lens frontrunners for his signature.

Another player who could leave Chelsea this summer is Conor Gallagher, who has attracted attention from Tottenham and Aston Villa.
