PIERS Morgan has slammed Prince Harry for "trashing his family" following the Duke's bombshell interview with the BBC.

The broadcaster has launched a scathing attack saying "is there a more contemptible public figure in the world than Prince Harry?"

Piers said: "He trashed his family as Prince Philip was dying.. he trashed his family as The Queen was dying… and now he’s trashing his family as both his father and sister-in-law have been battling cancer.

"Is there a more contemptible public figure in the world than Prince Harry?"

Piers also said: "My God… this selfish entitled pr*** is blaming King Charles for their rift and suggesting his father may not have long to live.

"What a despicable rat."

Harry sensationally savaged his family for his humiliating court defeat in his appeal against the decision to remove his taxpayer-funded security.

Prince Harry's biggest bombshells:

Piers had earlier said following the ruling: "The King must strip Harry and Meghan of their titles asap.

"They are never going to stop attacking him, the Monarchy, and the Royal Family - all while simultaneously enriching themselves from their royal status. It’s despicable."

The BBC's former royal editor Jennie Bond told Sky News the "interview is 'another jaw-dropping moment in the royal saga".

She said: "He's bristling, bristling with anger, isn't he, Harry, and resentment. And mistrust of the royal household. And despair over his father's attitude, I suppose. It's just such a sad and sorry saga."

Bond also said Harry could "know a little bit more than the rest of us about the King's health".

"The family, they do not trust him to keep private conversations private. And now he's gone so public with his raw emotions over this, I think that's going to reinforce that."

Following the court loss, Harry spoke to the BBC from near his home in California.

The Duke of Sussex admitted he would "love reconciliation" with the royal family.

This comes after years of feuding with the family, including his own brother Prince William, since he and Megan stepped down as working royals in 2020.

In the interview, he said: "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family."

But he said security is the last roadblock in a full reconciliation with his family.

Harry said Charles "won't speak to me because of this security stuff".

He also said he doesn't know how long the King has left to live but that he wants to "reconcile" with him.

Harry's most incendiary quotes

  • "He [my father] won't speak to me because of this security stuff."
  • "Some members of my family may never forgive me for writing a book."
  • "I don't know how long he [my father] has left."
  • "There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family."
  • "I can't see a world in which I would bring my wife and family back to the UK at this point."
  • "I've been treated very very very differently to anyone else who exists, past or present, I've been singled out."
  • "I never asked him [my father] to intervene - I asked him to step out of the way and let the experts do their jobs."

"I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious", Harry continued.

Harry said there have been "so many disagreements between myself and some of my family" but claimed he had now "forgiven" them.

However the prince blamed the King, declaring "this whole thing could be resolved through him".

He said his father could do this by "stepping aside" on a security body but he added: "I never asked him to intervene" - instead saying he would write to Home Secretary Yvette Cooper.

"Look at the impact. If anything was to happen to me, my wife, my kids - my father's grandchildren...look where the responsibility lies," he said.

"Do you not want to keep us safe?"

The Prince said he also felt "let down" by his country.

A Palace Spokesperson said: "All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion."
