Donald Trump’s 8 greatest nicknames for his rivals – from Little Rocket Man, to Crooked Hillary and Sloppy Steve

PRESIDENT Trump has gained himself quite the reputation when it comes to nicknames for his political rivals.
From ‘Crooked Hillary’ to ‘Sloppy Steve’, no-one has remained immune to his childish, often playground-level name calling.
Donald Trump recently made waves when referred to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin as “Dicky Durbin” online.
The latest addition to Trump’s list came after Durbin accused the President of saying “things that were hate-filled, vile and racist” following a meeting at the White House to discuss immigration reform.
It was at this meeting that Trump allegedly referred to certain nations as “s***hole countries”.
Trump calling him Dicky was an attempt at infantilising him, much like a playground bully.
Rather significantly, Trump’s name calling began early on in his presidential campaign, when he labelled rival Hillary Clinton as “Crooked Hillary”.
Throughout the campaign, Trump repeatedly referred to Clinton this way, generally when talking about her private email server used during her time as Secretary of State.
The first time Trump tweeted about “Crooked Hillary” was in April 2016, although he occasionally mixed it up by labelling her “Lyin’ Hillary”.
For a lot of his supporters, these nicknames were right on the mark as they summed up everything they hated about her.
He took things to a different level by labelling former chief strategist Steve Bannon as “sloppy”.
Following their very public falling out, Trump accused Bannon of “losing his mind” when he was “fired” from the White House.
The nickname appeared multiple times on social media and was a dig not only at his the breakdown of their professional relationship but also his often unkempt appearance.
When Senator Marco Rubio took a shot at Trump for having small hands, Trump retaliated by labelling him “Little Marco”, the lightweight from Florida.
While many believed it was a dig at the Senator’s stature, it was in fact labelling him as a minority player in the presidential race.
Trump used the label for the very first time in February 2016, when he tweeted: “Little Marco Rubio, the lightweight no show Senator from Florida, is set to be the 'puppet' of the special interest Koch brothers. WATCH!”
Former Florida governor and fellow presidential candidate Jeb Bush was also awarded a Trump nickname during the 2016 campaign.
“Low Energy Jeb” was first put into use as a way to criticise the low-key presence of the Sentator.
The nickname was quite the double edged sword as it was a not so subtle shot at Bush’s masculinity.
It openly irritated Bush and Trumped revelled in his own smartness.
Trump’s nicknames took an international turn when he began a Twitter-spat with North Korean despot Kim Jong-un.
Trump has never particularly had kind words to say about Kim, referring to him often as a “maniac” and a “whack job”.
He’s also often referred to the unstable leader as a “sick puppy”.
Trump recently came up with the moniker “Little Rocket Man” – a Trump original, according to White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders.
It was debuted at the 2017 United Nations General Assembly, before being spun out on Twitter shortly after.
The nickname has been described by political commentators as both deeply insulting and fitting in equal measure.
