Homes evacuated after two men, 49 & 69, found dead in same street days apart – with cops probing ‘unexplained’ deaths

A NUMBER of homes have been evacuated after two men were found dead in neighbouring houses just days apart.
The two men, 49 and 69, lived in adjacent homes and died in "unexplained" circumstances just five days apart on Gatesgarth Close in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
Cops had first been called to the scene on May 21, following the sudden death of a 49-year-old man at his home.
Then, on May 26, North Yorkshire Police was called again to an adjoining home, attending the sudden death of a 69-year-old man.
Now, some residents have been evacuated as a precaution, following the unexplained deaths.
North Yorkshire Police said: "The occupants of the homes in close proximity to the deceased's homes remain in alternative accommodation as a precaution while we work to establish how the men died.

"Our thoughts remain with the men's families who are being supported by specially trained officers at this sad time.
"Our thanks go to local residents for their patience and understanding while we work at the scene."
Cops added that a "specialist search" of the home was being carried out by North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service as well as police officers.
They explained residents may see officers wearing "full protective clothing and specialist equipment" while investigating.

Police added: "This is a precautionary measure until we know more about how the men died.
"We do not believe there are any risks to the wider community at this time."
