A TORY councillor’s wife jailed for urging rioters to set fire to migrant hotels faces a wait to see if her appeal is successful.

Lucy Connolly told judges she had never intended to incite any violence.

The mum of three, 41, was jailed for 31 months in October after admitting inciting racial hatred.

Connolly, a former childminder, hit out on X as troubled flared hours after three girls were knifed to death in Southport last July.

She wrote: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all the f***ing hotels full of the b***ds for all I care��� if that makes me racist, so be it.�/p>

Connolly, of Northampton, giving evidence from HMP Drake Hall, said when she wrote the post she was “really angry, really upset�and “distressed those children had died�

She deleted it after calming down, and said: “I know that wasn’t an acceptable thing to say.

"When I wrote that there had been no violence and it was never my intention to cause any.�/p>

The court reserved judgment until a later date.

Husband Raymond, who lost his West Northamptonshire district seat earlier this month but is still a town councillor, said outside court: “I’m hoping this will come to a positive conclusion.�/p>
