Girl, 12, rushed to hospital after ‘slashing’ at Scots school as police launch probe

A 12-YEAR-OLD girl has been rushed to hospital after a reported slashing at a Scots school.

Mercy crews raced to Hazlehead Academy on Groats Road in Aberdeen at around 10.30am this morning.

The girl was reportedly injured in a 'knife attack'.

She was rushed to the Aberdeen Royal Children's Hospital for treatment, where it is understood she required stitches.

Her condition is not yet known.

According to the , the incident happened in the school canteen.

A message sent to parents from the school reads: "We can confirm that an incident occurred this morning.

“As a result, a pupil was injured.

“The pupil was collected by their parents and is receiving medical treatment. The incident is now over.

“Police were alerted and carrying out inquiries.

"We cannot comment further at this stage but would want to reassure parents that all appropriate steps have been followed and support offered.”

Cops say this was a "contained incident" and there is no wider risk to the school.

A spokesperson for the force confirmed officers had been called around 10.30am.

An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at Hazlehead Academy this morning.

"As a result, a pupil was injured. The pupil was collected by their parents and taken for medical treatment.

"The incident is now over. Police were alerted and are carrying out inquiries. We cannot comment further at this stage.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Children's Hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries are ongoing but officers are following a positive lead.

"This was a contained incident and there is no risk to the wider school community."
