Connor Hayes blasts doorman at Middlesbrough nightspot, who left him in agony
THIS is the sickening moment a clubber is floored by a single punch from a burly bouncer.
Connor Hayes, 20, was left with a badly broken nose after remonstrating with a doorman outside a Middlesbrough nightspot.
The pizza shop worker, who required hospital treatment said: “There was absolutely no reason for him to punch me, there was nothing said and it is obvious from the footage that I am not looking for trouble.
“The thing is, bouncers are meant to be there to protect us and make sure things like this never happens.
“I think people need to be warned about this sort of thing. One punch can easily kill someone and this situation shows how badly that punch could have ended.”
Connor said he was thumped after approaching the doorman to allow his friend, who had briefly left Spensley’s Emporium, back in.
He told how he was enjoying a night out in the town with his girlfriend and two others when the attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
He said: “We had tickets for Spensley’s as I know the DJ in there so we were just having a night out.
“My friend went outside to get some money and the bouncer stopped him as he was coming back in.
“I noticed what was happening and went over to talk to them both. I was just saying how my friend was completely sober and was not out to cause problems for anyone but I could see that the bouncer facing me was getting wound up.
“His fists were clenching and his temples were twitching, I felt as though he knew what was going to happen.”
He added: “My whole face hurts. I’m in so much agony.
“I’ve had to have three injection in my nose before they could re-set it in place. It is so swollen at the moment.
Cleveland Police confirmed they were called to the scene at around 12.45am after reports of an assault.
A spokeswoman added that no arrests had yet been made but that inquiries are ongoing.
Bar owner Lee Edmund Spensley said he was aware of the incident and is working with police to help with the investigation.
