She will claim Judge Lord Burns failed to fully explain her lesser charge of of culpable homicide before locking her up for 23-and-a-half years for murdering her two-year-old boy.

The mum was jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh in July 2016 and her civil partner Nyomi, 24, received a 24-year sentence for her part in little Liam's horrendous murder.

The tragic tot was tortured for two years before he was finally killed by the sadistic pair at their Fife home in March 2014.

Liam suffered injuries similar to those of car crash victims and died from a ruptured heart after experiencing blunt force trauma to his body.

He had more than 30 external injuries on his tiny body at the time of death, including an untreated broken leg and fractured arm.

Two other little boys were also targeted by the sick couple, who reportedly locked one up in a home-made cage and tied the other naked to a chair in a dark storage room for snakes and rats.

The cowardly couple tried to pin Liam's murder on one of the other child abuse victims, who they coerced into confessing for the crime.

They also Googled whether they could serve their prison sentences alongside each other in the same jail.

Police eventually discovered the boy had been forced to take the blame and that Nyomi tried to frame him by making him leave his DNA on Liam's body.

Despite the horrific details of the pair's crime, after a short hearing atht e Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh on Friday, a panel of judges gave Fee's legal team permission to appeal he murder conviction.

Judges Lady Paton, Lord Bracadale and Lord Turnbull agreed with the submissions made by her defence counsel Gavin Anderson.

According to Mr Anderson, evidence is available that suggests Lord Burns misdirected jurors over legal requirements needed to secure a murder conviction.

He also argued that the judge didn't properly explain the the jury the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

Lady Paton said: “We will allow the appeal to proceed.”

Following a seven-week trial at High Court in Livingston, Scotland, on May 31 2016, the lesbian lovers were convicted.

The jury deliberated for three days before convicting the Fees of all eight charges put against them.
