Schoolgirl, 14, in critical condition after being hit by van as she stepped off bus
A SCHOOLGIRL has been left in critical condition after she was hit by a van as she stepped off the bus.
The horrific accident happened at around 3.30pm in Huyton, Merseyside.
The 14-year-old girl was crossing the road on Princess Drive when she was hit by a white Mercedes van.
Emergency services rushed to the scene before the road was closed by police, according to the .
An air ambulance landed on Princess Drive and the girl was taken to Alder Hey.
A spokesperson for the Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information after a 14-year-old girl was involved in a collision in Liverpool this afternoon (Tuesday 7 June).

"At around 3.30pm officers were called to a report that a girl was involved in a collision with a white Mercedes van after she got off a bus on Princess Drive.
"Emergency services arrived at the scene and the girl was then taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where her condition is described as critical. The driver of the van is assisting police with enquiries into the incident."
