Police watchdog launch investigation into IK Aihie's arrest by British Transport Police at London Bridge station

THE police watchdog has launched an investigation into an incident at London Bridge where a young black man was pinned to the ground and 'spit-hooded' by four cops.

IK Aihie, 20, was detained by British Transport Police (BTP) at London Bridge Station on 21 July at 11.30pm.

Footage filmed by commuter Ayda Mosharraf showed him scream as police officers pin him on the ground and place a hood over his head.

Jessica McConkey, Aihie's girlfriend, can be seen in the video looking distressed and she claimed the couple were just having a domestic when the police arrested him.

She appears to shout, 'That's f****ing disgusting'.

Aihie was held in a cell overnight in Islington and released the next day without charge, according to his girlfriend.

On Friday, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) confirmed it has received a referral from the force and had opened an investigation, the has reported.

Aihie told told the paper he had met with IPPC investigators and said: "I hope there will now be a thorough investigation and I would ask any witnesses to my arrest to please contact the IPCC."

Previously Aihie has said he was left 'bruised and shaken' following the incident.
