BANKSY could be behind the monolith that appeared on the Isle of Wight it was claimed last night after his rapper “pal” Goldie’s son made the prediction.

Danny Price, 36, said in an Instagram video “it’s probably Banksy” who was involved in placing similar mysterious monuments in America and Romania.

In the clip, uploaded to , Danny Price said: "one will probably pop up here" on the same day a shiny monolith was spotted on Compton Beach on the Isle of Wight.

In 2017 Danny's dad Goldie, 55, sparked a frenzy after referring to a man called “Robert” while talking about the elusive street artist from Bristol.

People claimed he was referring to Massive Attack musician Robert Del Naja, from Bristol and who is a friend of Goldie’s.

In his video, Danny told his 12,000 followers: "A third mysterious monolith has appeared, this time in California, following the previous two that have appeared over the last two weeks. One in Utah, and one in Romania.

"It would be great to speculate about them, but f*** that - because it’s almost definitely some sort of f****** marketing campaign like that f****** Simpsons episode.

"Or it’s probably Banksy... but you didn’t hear that from me.

"Next one will probably pop up here, who knows."

Isle of Wight residents were left baffled when the structure appeared at the bottom of a sheer cliff on Compton Beach.

Ami Blackburn, 31, went to investigate and take her own photos with her son and boyfriend after seeing snaps on social media but reading rumours they may have been photoshopped.

Miss Blackburn, who is a healthcare assistant from Newport, Isle of Wight, said: “I thought I was very bizarre when I first saw it and immediately researched the ones found in Utah, California and Romania.

"We moved some of the sand from around the bottom and it's partly buried but we felt underneath and it was made of wood with mirrors stuck to the side.

"I'd love the idea of it being delivered by aliens but it's more than likely an unusual art project. But can 2020 get any weirder?”

Tom Dunford, another Isle of Wight Resident, told the structure was 10ft tall and “really reflective”.

He said he thought the monolith was “someone playing a practical joke”, but had caused quite a stir among locals who flocked to the beach to take a look.

The source of the monolith is not known - but it comes after similar mysterious pillars were spotted in Utah and California in the US earlier this month.

Locals spotted in on Wednesday morning on top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California.
