White House accuses Pelosi and Democrats of ‘pure politics’ by ‘delaying $1,200 stimulus checks’
THE White House criticized Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for "holding things up" in coronavirus stimulus talks.
On Sunday, economist and adviser to President Trump Stephen Moore told the two democratic leaders to "get a deal done."
"Come on Nancy Pelosi," Moore told radio host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770AM.
"Come on, Chuck Schumer. Come together for the good of the country. Get a deal done! ... What is holding things up? I think it's pure politics."
Last Thursday, Democrats rejected the newly proposed - making it the fifth to fail to pass, .
and Schumer said the bill "doesn't come close to addressing the problems and is headed nowhere," in a joint statement.
"If anyone doubts McConnell's true intent is anything but political, just look at the bill," The statement read. "This proposal is laden with poison pills Republicans know Democrats would never support."
On Monday, Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin that he is still open to talks on the and a compromise from Pelosi is needed.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he doubts Congress will pass another relief bill before the November election, the Hill reported.
Pelosi spoke about a possibility of a deal before November 3, as stimulus negotiations have seemingly hit a standstill between Democrats and Republicans.

Despite their differences, both parties agree a second round of stimulus checks is warranted as the COVID-19 pandemic continues impacting the economy and as the U.S. unemployment rate hovers at around 8.5 percent.
Both parties also agree the second round of stimulus checks should be far more overreaching than the first round, enabling an even larger percentage of the U.S. population to receive checks.
have shown over half (52 percent) of Americans paid down debt with their first stimulus checks. A third said they mostly saved their checks, while 15 percent said they spent it.
Moore also suggested that Democrats are not budging in their stance on the bill because they don't want to help the economy.

"That's a cynical thing to think, but when I saw the actions of Pelosi this week saying no to everything unless we get $1 trillion, I thought, I don't think she really wants to help the economy right now," he said.
He added that President Trump won't "waste" $1trillion on a stimulus package since a "bad deal is worse than no deal at all."
"The good news is that even without the stimulus plan, which has been held up now for eight weeks, the economy is on great great roll right now," Moore said. "Four straight [months] of 1.5 million or more jobs created."
