The woman in her late 20s was travelling home and had to change at Swanley station late at night last September when she became concerned about his welfare.

The 28-year-old had passed her on the platform drunk and swigging from a bottle of red wine so she went to sit next to him to check he was alright.

But Clifford first tried to kiss her and when rejected turned violent grabbing her around the throat and threatening her.

He then dragged her behind the station waiting room where he subjected her to a 30-minute ordeal.

The victim told Maidstone Crown Court: "I feel completely ashamed and hateful about my body. No means no. I said no a lot of times.

"I thought there were some cameras. I was waiting for someone to come and help."

Prosecutor Andrew Copeland told the jury: "She was concerned with his state of health so she went to sit with him.

"It happened very quickly and she could not do anything. She didn't have a choice.

"He became very abusive and aggressive."

Clifford was arrested on the same night and told police: "I know I have been bad."

He denied the charges but was found guilty of sexual assault and two counts of rape.

He was sentenced on Monday and given an indefinite hospital order.
