Major motorway bridge forced to suddenly CLOSE sparking ‘severe’ delays for thousands of morning commuters

A MAJOR motorway bridge has been forced to close, sparking "severe" delays for thousands of morning commuters.
Traffic is building on the M4 just before the Prince of Wales Bridge after an overnight diesel spillage caused chaos.
Emergency roadworks have began at the westbound J22 entry slip road after a breakdown caused the spill.
The incident has damaged the carriageway surface, leaving the road requiring resurfacing.
The motorway was closed westbound between junctions 21-23 as a result.
National Highways confirmed the bridge has reopened eastbound earlier this morning.
One lane is open for those travelling from Monmouthshire to Bristol.
However, National Highways said the westbound road is expected to remain closed throughout the morning after the predicted end time of works overran.
Diversions are via the M48 Severn Bridge which is open in both directions.
National Highways previously said: "The #M4 #PrinceofWalesBridge westbound is likely to slightly overrun its scheduled end time of 6am due to the breakdown and diesel spillage at the J22 westbound entry slip.
