A HUGE car blaze sparked chaos on a crucial motorway - with black smoke seen billowing into the sky.
The fire broke out on the M5 in Worcestershire between junction 8 (M50) and junction 7 (Worcester) on Saturday.
Firefighters rushed to the scene at 4.15pm, to find a small vehicle ablaze.
One lane of the M5 was closed northbound while they continued to tackle the fire.
It was subsequently extinguished, with no one injured.
However, the incident wreaked havoc for those using the M5 - which is used by 110,000 drivers a day.

In pictures from the scene, traffic could be seen at a standstill in the two right-hand lanes.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two HWFRS crews - one each from Upton-upon-Severn and Worcester Fire Stations - were called to a small vehicle on fire.
"The car was extinguished by one firefighter while one lane of the M5 northbound was closed."
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were also called out to the incident.
