Marko Arnautovic injured during West Ham’s defeat to Wolves as Manuel Pellegrini admits it doesn’t look good

Striker has just signed new contract but looks set for spell on sidelines after leaving Molineux on crutches

WEST HAM’S week goes from bad to worse after Marko Arnautovic limped off injured during Tuesday’s heavy defeat to Wolves.

The Austrian exited the field at Molineux clutching his leg to leave Manuel Pellegrini sweating ahead of next week’s home game against Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Arnautovic was then pictured leaving on crutches, leaving Pellegrini to reflect: “I don’t know (the extent of the injury) but it doesn’t look like a good one.”

Arnautovic has only just signed a lucrative new contract to keep Chinese suitors at bay.

He had vanished from first-team proceedings in recent weeks as West Ham lost to Bournemouth and Wimbledon.

But Arnautovic was thrust back into the starting XI as Pellegrini looked to make amends at Wolves.

However, the home side ended up firing three goals past their hapless opponents.

And with Arnautovic now looking set for a spell on the sidelines, West Ham’s season is in serious danger of derailing.

Pellegrini is currently without Fabian Balbuena, Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere, Samir Nasri, Aaron Cresswell and Lucas Perez.

And he will now have to turn to the likes of misfiring strikers Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez to go up against Liverpool’s no-nonsense backline.
