A MUM was left outraged after a woman "nicked" her "reserved" Ikea trolley while she was in the loo.

The disgruntled woman said she'd popped into the toilets after slipping her walking stick inside her trolley, but they both had vanished by the time she emerged.

In a Mumsnet post, she explained her shock realising someone had taken the trolley along with her walking aid.

"Went to Ikea today... hardly any trolleys in the trolley bay.. but just managed to get the last one," she wrote.

The woman, who used the disabled toilets due to a stoma bag, thought to herself "surely no one will take my trolley".

But to her surprise, the trolley was gone.

Flabbergasted, she asked Ikea staff if they been asked to move it but they told her they hadn't seen it.

She started roaming around the shop floor in a desperate bid to locate her trolley, only to "find a woman in the next section pushing [her] trolley".

The Mumsnet user then confronted her - telling her she had taken her trolley, evidenced by the stick inside it.

"She looks at me like I'm mad but doesn't say a word. Takes out my walking stick and hands it to me," she continued.

"I say 'Can you please take your items out of my trolley and let me have it back please?'

"She huffs and puffs.. but doesn't speak. Put her items into her friends trolley and pushes my trolley to me so hard it bangs into me."

Mumsnet users were divided - some were equally appalled by the woman's actions, but not everyone ran to her defence.

Some branded the trolley takeover as "theft" in a heated debate, while others argued she was irresponsible for deserting her belongings.

One praised the original poster for her confidence: "Well done for standing your ground."

Another penned: "It obviously was being used by someone who had gone to the toilet so she shouldn't have taken it.

"But not even that she stole your walking aid!"

However, some were less sympathetic and blamed her for ditching her trolley with her stick still inside it.

Someone wrote: "Of course it wasn't still your trolley if you just abandoned it outside the lavatories", to which a different user replied: "Think we found the thief".

Another added: "You left the trolley unattended and a walking stick is not a right to claim it as being yours."

The same user went on to blame her, suggesting "the woman took it believing it had been discarded".

They even accused the original poster of "creating a big drama out of it" and warned her to use the loo before grabbing a trolley next time.
