But now fans of both have put their differences aside to focus on what the logo of the Pepsi can means and its left them blown away.

With a recent revamp of the logo, now with the word Pepsi written inside, people have been wondering what it means.

Writer for the blog, Spencer adds that Pepsi has gone through many rebrandas over the years and first launched in 1893 as "Brad's Drink" by Caleb Bradham, who sold the drink at his drugstore in New Bern, North Carolina.

It was renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898, "Pepsi" because it was advertised to relieve dyspepsia (indigestion) and "Cola" referring to the cola flavour.

Spencer also revealed that the colours of the logo have a deep meaning.

The colours of the logo were added in the 1950s to help stir up patriotic feelings during World War II - signalling their support of American soldiers.

People took to social media sharing their amazement over the historical meaning behind the logo.

One person wrote: "Jesus! Didn't know Pepsi's logo had SO much meaning infused into it!"

Another commented: "Ahhh that's the meaning of Pepsi's logo."
