Aldi drops brand new Gonk characters in its middle aisles – but it’s the rat character that has everyone talking
GONK season is finally upon us!
The faceless characters that look like gnomes have been cropping up in British homes during the festive season for years now.
And lucky for bargain hunters, Aldi has introduced some to its middle aisle as part of this week’s Specialbuys.
Shoppers will need to be quick, though. As with all Specialbuys: once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Gonk-lovers have flocked to social media to share their excitement over the plush characters the budget supermarket has newly released.
They include a Gingerbread Rat, Green Sequin Gonk, Red Candy Cane Gonk and Blue Sequin Gonk.

Each one will set you back £12.99.
“At such a fun time of year it's great to have a few fun characters around the house and they don't come much more festive than one of these adorable plushes,” Aldi bosses said.
“This soft and cute figure has extendable legs so he can sit in your home to add subtle decoration or you can stretch him out to become a centrepiece.
“The choice is yours.”

The plush decorations gave extendable legs, meaning you can stand them up by the tree or sit them over the fireplace.
The new characters, set to rival the German supermarket’s flagship Kevin the Carrot, have taken Facebook by storm.
And while it’s not a conventional animal, many love the Gingerbread Rat.
“The gingerbread rat looks unusual,” one shopper said.
“I think we’re going to have to have him.”
“I adore the rat,” another beamed.
Aldi is also stocking Perfect Christmas Sitting Gonks for £7.99 each.
