Cara said: “I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day. I hope Elton may one day return the favour and agree to play me in my not yet developed, written, pitched or funded biopic.”

Sir Elton, 77, said they discussed the project, revealed last month by The Sun, at Glastonbury last year, adding: “It came out great.”

Earlier in the year, The Sun reported that Cara had starred in the musical Cabaret on the West End and wanted to take it to New York.

She said: “Broadway would be a dream. I’ve caught the theatre bug.

“I’ve had some personal things happen in my life but I go on stage and forget about all of it.”

Around the same time, Cara's £5million mansion burnt down in a catastrophic fire while she was in London.

The actress' mum said Cara was devastated after "her whole life" was destroyed in the blaze.

The heartbroken star shared a sweet picture of her two cats, writing that her heart was "broken" and telling fans to "cherish what you have" when she thought they had perished.

She later shared an adorable picture of the pair, writing: "THEY ARE ALIVE!! THANK YOU TO THE FIREFIGHTERS."
