Emmerdale’s David Metcalfe fears he’s been stood up on wedding day as bride Tracy Shankley is a no show
Cancer-stricken David is consoled by Leyla Harding as it appears his wife-to-be has changed her mind.
IT'S rare for a soap wedding to go off without a hitch, and Emmerdale's nuptials between David Metcalfe and Tracy Shankley is no exception.
The groom - played by Matthew Wolfenden - is left gutted in the church in an upcoming episode of the ITV soap as he fears he has been jilted at the alter when his fiancee fails to show up on their big day.
Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) does her best to console the crestfallen groom, as he begins to think Tracy was only marrying him out of pity following his diagnosis with testicular cancer.
However the groom doesn't realise Tracy does in fact want to get married, but has been kidnapped by her jailbird father Frank Clayton.
The criminal - played by Michael Praed - manages to throw her into his car and drive off before the wedding into the middle of nowhere in the Yorkshire Dales.

Actress Amy Walsh, who plays Tracy, told : “He doesn’t hold a gun to her head or anything, so don’t worry.
"Frank just wants to prove to Tracy that he’s good enough for her to have in her life.�?/p>
She added that it’s after he’s thrown out of the hen and stag do that the pair end up becoming embroiled in another argument: “Frank tells her that he’s leaving because Tracy doesn’t want him around �?and when she says that he just needs to show her that he cares, he drags her into his car and speeds off.�?/p>
After Tracy wakes up in the back of her father’s car, her anger at him skyrockets �?particularly when they find out the battery’s flat. This means that they can’t get to the church.
Amy added: “She’s woken up in this car, still in fancy dress from her hen do and she just keeps thinking the clock is ticking. She reckons David will be standing waiting for her, believing she’s decided not to marry him after all.�?/p>
Viewers will be left on tenterhooks to see if Tracy manages to make it back to the church on time, and even if she does, will David still be there waiting for her?
The episode airs on Thursday, September 22 on ITV.
