Why did Piers Morgan leave Good Morning Britain?

On March 9, 2021 Piers dramatically stormed off the set after he was slated by co-star Alex Beresford for his comments towards Meghan Markle, leading him to quit the show.

The statement read: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.

"ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add."

The TV host got into a heated arguement about the Duchess of Sussex's claims to have had issues with her mental health.

Piers claimed he was "sickened" by Meghan for "trashing" the Royal Family as "white supremacists" during her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

An ITV source said at the time that the controversial host was asked to apologise on March 9, 2021 and he refused which "ended with him telling producers he would not host the show any more".

They added: "His contract was coming to an end this year anyway, but he said he wouldn’t do the job unless it was on his terms."

A day after he quit Piers tweeted that "freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on".

He also quoted Sir Winston Churchill referencing free speech and signed off by writing: “I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."

Piers joined Good Morning Britain as a permanent host in November 2015.

Will Piers Morgan return to GMB?

On September 1, 2021 the TV star asked GMB if he would "get his job back" after Ofcom ruled he wasn't in the wrong regarding his comments towards Meghan Markle.

He tweeted: "I'm delighted OFCOM has endorsed my right to disbelieve the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have proven to be untrue.

"This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios. Do I get my job back?"

However, there is to suggestion from ITV he will be returning to his GMB job.

Had Piers Morgan threatened to leave GMB before?

He sure did - a few times in fact.
