PRESENTER and comedian Mel Giedroyc has become a familiar face on television.

The TV star started out as one half of Mel and Sue, but has branched out on her own and is now one of the hosts of Children In Need.

Mel Giedroyc is an English actress, comedian, and television presenter.

Born in Epsom, Surrey, on June 5, 1968, to parents Michal and Rosemary.

The comedian is the youngest of four, she has two sisters - Coky Giedroyc and Kasia Param - and one brother, Miko Giedroyc.

Prior to finding success, she graduated from Trinity College in Cambridge with a degree in French and Italian.

Becoming a star

Mel is known for being one half of the comedy duo Mel and Sue with best friend Sue Perkins.

The pair started working together in the 90s, after they met Cambridge University and were part of the famous Footlights acting troupe.

They have since hosted a number of TV shows together including Light Lunch for Channel 4 .

But they are best known for fronting the original The Great British Bake Off on the BBC.

The pair left the much-loved show when it moved to Channel 4.

The popular presenter and comedian is also part of the Children In Need hosting team - a role she first took on in 2017 and continues to hold to this day.

Television fame

Aside from her notable work with Sue, Mel has become a familiar face on the box, earning success both as an actress and presenter.

She has appeared in a number of TV shows including, French and Saunders, <a href="http://machibet777.site/tv/16054271/bbc-slammed-offensive-warning-vicar-dibley/"The Vicar of Dibley, Miranda, and Taskmaster.

Other notable shows Mel has appeared in include The Generation Game, numerous commentary roles for the Eurovision Song Contest, <a href="http://machibet777.site/tvandshowbiz/11452318/how-mel-and-sue-made-a-hit-out-of-hitmen/")Hitmen, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable.

She participated in the 2021  Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special with Neil Jones.

Despite receiving a perfect 40 score from the judges after performing a street chance to Ice Ice Baby, the pair lost out to singer Anne-Marie.

Married life

As well as finding career success, Mel has also been lucky enough to find love.

She is married to her husband Ben Morris, a television director and teacher at the world-leading drama school LAMDA.

The happy couple tied the knot in 2002 after previously meeting at a dinner party two years prior.

Along come the kids

As well as enjoying married life, Mel and Ben are parents to two children.

The couple share daughters, Florence and Vita.

Florence was born shortly after the couple's wedding.

Mel previously revealed how she was already four and a half months pregnant with her firstborn when she was getting ready to walk down the aisle to Ben.

Two years later, they welcomed Vita into the family.
