Andre Gomes injury: Cenk Tosun says ‘I could hear him screaming… his eyes were open so big, I just tried to hold him’

CENK TOSUN has revealed the excruciating pain he shared with the rest of his Everton team-mates at seeing Andre Gomes' horror injury that left many of the players on the verge of tears.
The Turkey international rescued a point for the Toffees after netting a 97th-minute equaliser against Tottenham - but the result was overshadowed by Portugal midfielder Gomes' gruesome injury.
The 26-year-old will undergo surgery on Monday after suffering a fractured and dislocated right ankle following a tackle by Son Heung-min, who was given a red card and left the field in tears.
Tosun, who had only just come on as a substitute, was among the Everton players trying to console the stricken Gomes and cradle the midfielder as he was attended to by paramedics.
Speaking after the match, he said: "Everybody is so sad inside.
"Some players, they nearly cried. Andre was in shock. His eyes were open so big. He was crying, shouting and screaming. I just tried to hold him and speak to him. I tried to tell him to stay calm.
"We couldn't understand him. He was the one who had got the injury."
