A ROYAL expert has claimed Meghan Markle made a sly dig at her sister-in-law Kate Middleton that ''clearly hit a nerve''.
Earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex launched her brand-new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, two-and-a-half years since she last attempted to set the podcast stage alight with her Spotify series Archetypes.
This week, the mum-of-two, 43, sat down with pal Kadi Lee, co-founder of Highbrow Hippie, to discuss ''what it means to grow something from the ground up, how to lead with your values, and why staying connected to your community is the ultimate marker of success''.
But perhaps ''the only interesting thing'' mentioned in the podcast, The Sun's Matt Wilkinson said, was the way California-based duchess referred to Kadi.
In the episode, titled Building Your Brand Brick by Brick, Meghan said that when Kadi turns up at their £12million Montecito mansion, Archie and Lilibet call her Auntie Katie.
Entrepreneur Kadi candidly shared on the podcast: “Maybe I'll try a stint in Europe.

“I'm just a really naturally curious person, and I was not blessed with kids.
“I'm still holding out hope I might be a step mum or, you know, one day, but for right now, I'm just super aunt.”
Meghan cut in: “I mean, our kids love Auntie Kadi.
“It’s our favourite when they run out to the car saying ‘Kadi’.”

Kadi laughed: “I know I feel like I look for them first!”
The two siblings also call Meghan’s close pal and tennis legend Serena Williams "auntie."
The duchess previously posted footage of her daughter with "auntie" Serena Williams as they played a game of Candy Land.
The clip also featured Bill Withers' Lovely Day, with the caption: "When the aunties come to celebrate... and to play! Love you @serenawilliams."
News.com.au Royal Reporter Bronte Coy told Matt Wilkinson: ''Yes, she did say that on there.
''It was, for context, off the back of Katie saying that she was sad not to have been blessed with children herself - so she thought that was obviously a personal spot for her, and she said 'I'll just be the cool auntie'.''
But while it may seem like an innocent comment, Bronte explained how the remark was a sly dig at Catherine, the Princess of Wales, 43.
She said: ''[Meghan] calling her aunt Katie is obviously going to hit a nerve because the kids do have aunties and Aunt Catherine over in Britain that I don't think that they have any sort of relationship with.
Meghan Markle's ventures after stepping down as a working royal

THE Duchess of Sussex has kept busy since stepping down as a senior working royal in 2020 and relocating to California. Here are some of her business ventures...
- Archewell Foundation – A nonprofit supporting charitable initiatives.
- Netflix Deal – Producing content like Harry & Meghan and With Love, Meghan.
- Archetypes Podcast – Former Spotify show on female stereotypes.
- Clevr Blends – Investment in a women-owned wellness latte brand.
- Cesta Collective – Minority stake in a handbag brand supporting Rwandan artisans.
- As Ever – Previously known as American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand selling jam.
- ShopMy Page – Online store featuring her curated fashion and beauty items.
- New Podcast – Confessions of a Female Founder focusing on entrepreneurship.
''So it would clearly hit a nerve.
''It was an interesting comment, I would say and when I heard it, it was like 'Oh, that's going to hit'.''
Hugo Vickers, who also appeared on this week's Royal Exclusive Show, agreed - and explained how Archie and Lilibet, five and three, will grow to ''resent'' the strained relationship between the royal couples.
''They're suddenly going to realise that their first cousin is a future king.
''You know, they could have been enjoying life at Windsor and all sorts of things.
''I mean, children are not stupid, they're going to realise that at some point and will probably want to have some sort of connection.''
But while Meghan and Prince Harry seem to be drifting further and further away from the Royal Family, the experts believe that things may change in the future.
''Hopefully, that's something that does happen down the line,'' Bronte said about the relationship doing a 180.
''This is a new generation we're talking about in terms of William and Catherine's kids and the Sussexes. Maybe they'll all forge that themselves.''
Family strains
During the podcast Meghan made no reference to the kids’ real auntie, Princess Kate.
The Princess of Wales, 43, first met Archie a week after his birth in May 2019 with Prince William.
However, it is not known if Kate has met Princess Lilibet, who was born in 2021 in California.

Shortly after the birth, Kate said: “I can't wait to meet her. We haven't met her yet. I hope that will be soon.”
It is thought that Archie and Lilibet also have no relationship with women on Meghan’s side who could be aunts, including her half-sister Samantha Markle.
