BRICKHARD THE THIRD

Lego fans spend three days creating King Richard III War of the Roses portrait

The Easter weekend event was planned by charity Fairy Bricks, which helps sick children with Lego

LEGO fans spent the weekend creating their very own Wall of the Roses — a portrait of King Richard III made out of the toy bricks.

The hunchback monarch, killed at the Battle of Bosworth during the Wars of the Roses in 1485, is constructed from 96,764 pieces.

More than 96,000 Lego bricks were used to re-create the portrait

It was put together in Leicester’s King Richard III Visitor Centre, yards from where his body was found under a car park in 2012.

Charity Fairy Bricks, which uses Lego to help sick children, came up with the plan for the Easter weekend.

The group’s Robert Clarkson said: “It’s been great to give something back to children, some of whom had never actually played with Lego before.

“They have helped recreate something truly remarkable."
